Steph Neel
Birth & Postpartum Doula
Reno, NV
Based in Reno, Nevada, Vex & Verse provides grounded, collaborative birth doula support for families throughout Northern Nevada.
Birth is not something to fix.
It is something to witness, support, and protect.
The Heart Behind Vex & Verse
Vex & Verse was created as a quiet space for the moments that change you.
Birth is powerful, personal, and deeply human. My role is not to lead your path, but to walk beside you—offering calm, grounded support through pregnancy, labor, and the early days after birth.
This work is rooted in presence, not performance.
In listening, not fixing.

The Heart Behind Vex & Verse
Birth is not something to fix.
It is something to witness, support, and protect.
I came to this work from a deep pull to support, not to lead.
Birth is not something to be controlled—it’s something to be respected, supported, and experienced in your own way.
I offer calm, grounded presence through pregnancy, labor, and postpartum—rooted in listening, informed advocacy, and steady support.
So you feel safe, supported, and never alone as you move through this transition.
What Working With Me Looks Like
Continuous Labor Support
Evidence-Based Guidance
Calm, Grounded Presence
I intentionally support families of all races, identities, orientations, and structures.
Birth belongs to everyone.
What Is A Doula?
Birth Doula
A birth doula assists a birthing person and their family before and during childbirth. They provide non-medical emotional and physical support during pregnancy and the birthing process.
Postpartum Doula
Postpartum doulas provide families information and support on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from childbirth, infant soothing, and coping skills for new parents.
What Does A Doula Do?
Me
I listen.
I witness.
I stay.
I offer steady, informed support through pregnancy, labor, and the days that follow — not to direct the experience, but to help you feel held, heard, and grounded as you move through it.
Birth isn’t something to be managed.
It’s something to be witnessed.
From the Birth Community
Jen S. - Birth Doula
“You got to catch a birth! That was perfect! I believe that it all happened the way it was supposed to. You were amazing! Thank you for helping me and I am happy to be helping on your doula journey.
Sam D. - Holistic Doula Educator, Full Spectrum Doula
“Beautiful reflection. Thank you so much for this Steph. This clearly captures the depth of your growth and self-awareness. I’m moved by how you’ve embraced presence throughout, and the way you consider boundaries and sustainable care. This is a great support alongside your natural capacity to hold space. Your awareness will serve both you and the families you support in profound ways, and I'm so stoked to see the difference you make in our community. <3 Well done!”
